Fishponds Old Boys FC wishes to announce a significant and historic development in the future of our football club.

Founded in 1969 by the late Alan Evans, Fishponds Old Boys FC has proudly represented its community for over five decades.

In recent years, “The Ponds” have built a strong and meaningful partnership with Downend Saints & Fishponds OB FC, creating a vital pathway between youth football and the senior game. This relationship has grown year on year, providing opportunities for young players to progress, develop, and thrive.

After extensive discussions, and with both clubs sharing the same ambition, values, and long-term vision, we have collectively agreed that the most positive step forward is to join together as one club.

This decision comes with mixed emotions. There is sadness as we acknowledge the closing of a proud chapter in the history of Fishponds Old Boys FC. The name, the badge, and the memories carry enormous meaning for everyone connected to the club. However, there is also great pride in knowing that the legacy built since 1969 will continue, evolve, and grow under a new identity.

From the 2026/27 season, the club will move forward under the new name:

Downend Saints & Fishponds OB FC.

Both clubs firmly believe this opportunity is the right one for the future—strengthening our player pathway, expanding our community reach, and ensuring long-term sustainability and success.

We are incredibly excited about this new chapter and look forward to welcoming all players, supporters, volunteers, and families—past, present, and future—as we embark on this journey together.
